After selling his IT business and taking extended time off it was time for Karl Gaines to take on a new project. Enter Garry. Garry had been finding it difficult to grow his security business, IQ Security and was therefore ready to sell.
After several discussions Karl bought in. The complementary partnership enabled Garry to continue excelling with his technical skills as Karl stepped in to organise and streamline the business infrastructure. As a result, in the last two years, they’ve seen triple digit growth.
Heron Plumbing, based in Auckland New Zealand is a 56 year old business. When Dale, president of Master Plumbers Auckland and wife Andrea bought the business 6 years ago they saw an opportunity to refine the workflow by removing the paper laden processes in place.
Richdale Fire was purchased by Bartley Group in March this year and rebranded as RFS Fire & Compliance. As Project Manager for Bartley, Lynda Hocquard was charged with ensuring that RFS had the necessary infrastructure to ensure the success of the business into the future.

Frank Bauer's, Proguard Protection Services has seen significant improvements since implementing simPRO in 2016. Frank Bauer II is the CEO of Proguard Protection Services in Aspen Colorado. The company has a total of 23 employees, 11 of which are in the field. Frank realized Proguard had hit a ceiling of growth. New infrastructure was required to lift the ceiling in order to continue building the company. As luck would have it, Frank found simPRO.
Phill’s been in business for more than 20 years. It was around 10 years ago when he realised he’d like to take the business further.
He had big plans but the business model just wasn’t quite working; the infrastructure wasn’t enabling expansion. Phill hired the help of a business coach to implement systems and processes to propel the business forward.
We last visited Natalie at C & G Services in Hampshire back in November 2014. The company had only recently moved into a new premises and had a staff count of four. In November 2016, we dropped in for another catch-up to see how things had changed for Natalie and the team since settling in to the new site and embedding simPRO into the business.
With ten staff now on the books, the business is growing steadily – Natalie says this wouldn’t be possible without simPRO.
If you’ve been following The Journey for a while you’ve probably already heard of Adam Bell. He was the guy who went from working long, long hours to becoming a triathlete in between fishing holidays. After a while he got bored of all the time off so he’s decided to get stuck back into work and put in at least 30 hours per week to grow the business. Adam’s bought a new office space and big changes are ahead.
